Backups

Glow integrates with UpdraftPlus. Literally about as reliable as backups can get in WordPress.

I think of Glow as having it all in one place. They thought of everything that we need in order to manage our clients’ WordPress sites.

You control the schedule

Got a few large e-commerce sites? You’ll want those backed up regularly. With Glow, you can schedule backups to run as often as every 2 hours.

And for the small brochure sites that don’t change much? Maybe a little less frequently for those.

The choice is yours.

FAQs for our Backups feature

How does Glow integrate with UpdraftPlus?

All backups in Glow are powered by UpdraftPlus, the most trusted and reliable backup solution in WordPress. For each site where you want to enable backups, simply install the UpdraftPlus plugin (which Glow will do for you).

Once setup is complete, Glow will keep a record of all backups and confirm what was included in each one (eg. database only or database and plugins etc.). You’re also able to alter the backup schedule from within Glow, as well as have backup information included in client reports.

Where are backups stored?

You choose the 3rd party storage location for your backups. There are many options to choose from, including Google Drive, Amazon S3, Dropbox, Rackspace and more.

How often can we take backups?

You’re able to schedule backups to run as often as every 2 hours.

Are backups included in client reports?

Yes. There’s a backups section that you can choose to include in client reports. The report will display the backup frequency, the number of backups taken over the period of the report and indicate when the most recent backup was completed.

Can we restore from a backup?

Yep. Using the UpdraftPlus interface, you can restore any backup.

What’s the maximum size of a website that can be backed up?

There is no maximum site size and UpdraftPlus has been known to successfully backup sites of up to 100GB.

Is it possible to take instant backups?

Yes. Whenever you need to take a new backup, outside of the normal schedule, simply click the 'Backup now' button in Glow.

Can we download backup files?

Yep. For any currently held backup, you can download the files to your local computer.

Do we need an extra subscription for backups (on top of our Glow plan)?

No, you only need a Glow account. Although Glow’s backups are powered by UpdraftPlus, there is no requirement for you to buy an extra subscription with them, in order for the backups to run.
